Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayA Halloween post from Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins sparked outrage on social media Saturday, with many accusing the Trump administration official of blatant racism.
“Some costumes come with a price tag. This one comes with a prison sentence. To anyone stealing from American taxpayers: The tricks are over. The treats are running out. Happy Halloween!” Rollins wrote on X alongside a fake Spirit Halloween costume depicting a Black man as a “SNAP Fraudster.”

Rollins’ post was likely a reference to the Trump administration’s attempts to root out so-called waste, fraud, and abuse within government social programs.
The depiction of a Black man as a “SNAP Fraudster” harkens back to many of the racist stereotypes conservative politicians have peddled for decades, going all the way back to President Ronald Reagan’s “welfare queen” rhetoric.
This rhetoric has frequently been used to justify cutting government assistance, as President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” did to SNAP benefits, Medicaid and a host of other programs.
Despite the Trump administration’s continued touting of its work to stop fraud, the president has pardoned or commuted the sentences of numerous individuals convicted of fraud.
Critics on social media were quick to point out that fact, along with calling out the racist rhetoric behind the post.

Just insane white supremacy, out in the open brazen racism, from Trump cabinet members.
But hey, let’s return to our regularly scheduled programming on Hasan Piker and the left. https://t.co/bbhOzWyBto
Despicable. Disgusting.
Not even hiding it…
And I look forward to your answer to what motivated this graphic when you appear in front of the Agriculture Committee in January. https://t.co/GxUNZYCkUo
Trump has fraudulently amassed billions since becoming president but you just chose a random photo of a black guy because you’re a racist https://t.co/7zQmPQyF6M
