He expressed confidence, asserting that New Yorkers need not fear his ability to lead effectively.

However, when he proclaimed in a post that he had been briefed “on the U.S. military capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife,” many found this hard to believe, given his subsequent admission about lacking the clearance. One social media user succinctly put it, “Called it,” indicating widespread skepticism about his claims of insider knowledge.

Mamdani didn’t shy away from critiquing U.S. actions, describing them as a “blatant pursuit of regime change” and an “act of war.” His opposition to the operation underscores a contentious political landscape, particularly given the legal circumstances surrounding Maduro, who, alongside his wife, faces serious charges. Instead, he emphasized the importance of working closely with law enforcement to minimize any disruption to city life. “I continue to stay in constant communication with my police commissioner and the NYPD,” he stated, delegating responsibility for maintaining order.
