Update: The suspect has been identified: NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch says that 51 year-old Raul Morales is under arrest in connection with stabbing.

Two people were stabbed with a screwdriver on the Upper West Side of New York on Thursday.

The two victims are ages 57 and 50 – one was stabbed in the back and one was stabbed in the chest.

One victim is confirmed to be a Jewish man the other is an Asian man.

Both victims were transported to a hospital and are in stable condition.

An unidentified suspect has been taken into custody.

New York City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov lashed out at NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani after the stabbing.

“This comes a day after Mamdani incited more violence against NYC’s Jews….F*CK YOU Mamdani,” she said

One of the victims is seriously injured.

According to reports, the Jewish man was wearing a kippah and walking to synagogue near West 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue when the suspect stabbed him with a screwdriver.
