(Daily Mail) Two National Guard soldiers have been shot in an ambush-style attack just 800 yards from the White House, sparking a lockdown at the president's residence.
The suspected gunman is in custody and two soldiers are in critical condition after a shoot-out at Farragut West metro station in the center of Washington, DC. The suspect was also wounded.

(Fox News) FBI Director Kash Patel said the two West Virginia National Guardsmen wounded in a shooting Wednesday near the White House remain in critical condition, correcting an earlier report from Gov. Patrick Morrisey that the pair had died.
Jeffery Carroll, executive assistant chief of specialized operations at the Metropolitan Police Department, and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed during a news conference the attack was targeted, noting the alleged gunman "immediately" opened fire at the service members. -- More...
