Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson made an unexpected confession about his past support for President Donald Trump and the part he played in getting him elected.

His brother, Buckley Carlson, joined “The Tucker Carlson Show” as its guest on Monday, and the two both seemed to lament that they had supported Trump over the past 10 years, having broken with the president on a number of issues in the past several months.

“You and I and everyone else who supported him — you wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him — we’re implicated in this for sure,” Tucker Carlson said. “It’s not enough to say, ‘Well, I changed my mind’ or, like, ‘Oh, this is bad. I’m out.’ It’s, like, in very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now.”

Buckley Carlson agreed with his brother as he spoke. Tucker Carlson continued by apologizing for his support of Trump.

“I do think it’s, like, a moment to wrestle with our own consciences. We’ll be tormented by it for a long time — I will be. And I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people,” Tucker Carlson said.

Over issues such as the war in Iran and the release of the files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Carlson has seemingly withdrawn any support he had for Trump, and the president has returned the favor in several social media attacks on him and other previous supporters, including Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly and former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).

“I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years, especially by the fact that they think it is wonderful for Iran, the Number One State Sponsor of Terror, to have a Nuclear Weapon — Because they have one thing in common, Low IQs,” Trump wrote in part earlier this month.

Greene and Owens have also broken with Trump on the issues of Epstein and Iran, viewing the stonewalling on the files and the decision to attack Iran as breaking key campaign promises.
