Really awkward.
During a press event at the Oval Office with the Artemis II crew on Wednesday, a reporter asked the president if he’s thinking of moving NASA’s headquarters from Washington, D.C., when the lease runs out in August 2028.
Trump chose to have NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman answer the question instead, but the way he did it was ... weird.
“Well, the best man to tell you that is a man standing right over here,” Trump said, pointing to Isaacman, and asking him, “You heard that question with those beautiful ears of yours?”
Trump then added, “He’s got great hearing. You know, he’s got super hearing.”
Isaacman deftly handled the bizarre introduction and segue by telling the president, “Trick of the trade, sir.”
Not surprisingly, this isn’t the first time Trump has awkwardly applauded someone.
Last August, he praised Marco Rubio’s job as Secretary of State by telling him at a Cabinet meeting that he was born for the job and added, “I don’t think you should ever run for another office. I don’t think you should, really.”
