The prospect of meddling with the prominent cable news network seems to have piqued Trump’s interest.

During a Q&A with reporters on Wednesday, Trump said he wants any deal involving CNN’s parent company to require changes at CNN as well.

“I don’t think they should be entrusted with running CNN any longer,” said Trump.

“I think any deal, it should be guaranteed and certain that CNN is part of it. Or sold separately but I don’t think the people that are running that company right now, and running CNN, which is a very dishonest group of people, I don’t think that should be allowed to continue,” Trump said.

Netflix last week agreed to buy Warner Bros Discovery’s TV, film studios and streaming division for $72 billion.

Days later, Paramount Skydance launched a hostile bid for the company worth $108.4 billion.

CNN is excluded from Netflix’s acquisition deal for the entertainment behemoth. However, Paramount is attempting to buy the entire company, including its cable properties.

Paramount’s bid is backed by financing from Jared Kushner’s investment firm, Affinity Partners, along with additional funds from the Saudi and Qatari sovereign wealth funds and a holding company owned by Abu Dhabi.

Trump has expressed interest in federal regulatory approval of the media mega-merger. In what seems like a clear conflict of interest, Kushner is Trump’s son-in-law.
