Trump, who promised during the campaign to release the Epstein files, has instead spent months trying to block that release. With the House now expected to easily pass a discharge petition that would call for the files’ release, Stewart said the president has “pivoted.” Trump is now urging the very same Republicans he pressured into blocking that petition to support it, claiming “we have nothing to hide.”

Stewart isn’t buying it ― for one simple reason.

“If he had nothing to hide, he could have declassified and released these files himself at any time,” Stewart said. “How do I know this?”

He then rolled footage of Trump in 2022, insisting a president can declassify anything, at any time, just by saying so or “even by thinking about it.”

Stewart said it’s “very clear” Trump doesn’t want those files out there and has given “nonsensical answers” when asked about Epstein.

“Is it possible that Trump’s whole bullshit facade is crumbling?” Stewart asked. “I mean, right now, all he can do is distract from one lie with what is clearly another lie.”

Stewart then played a clip showing Trump doing exactly that.

“All I want is I want for people to recognize a great job that I’ve done on pricing, on affordability,” Trump said.

“What planet do you live on?” Stewart fired back. “Great job on affordability? My Taco Bell order is now $72!”

Trump, he said, is off his game.

“This dude is flailing,” Stewart said. “The normally reliable Trump is even struggling to deliver on his greatest gift: the cutting nickname.”

Trump shot to political prominence in part by gutting his opponents with vicious nicknames, yet he has floundered in choosing one to describe his former ally, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). Over the weekend, he took to social media to call her “Marjorie Taylor Brown,” explaining in parentheses that green grass turns brown when it rots.

“You know, I’ve always said that the best nicknames are the ones you have to explain in parentheses,” Stewart snarked.
