While not mandatory, Republicans often wear red to such events to align with their party’s traditional color.

So the president’s youngest son caused a stir among some outlets.

The Daily Mail called it a “shocking fashion choice” and also “intriguing.” The youngest Trump eschewed “the traditional MAGA red worn by other members of his family,” including the president, the tabloid wrote. Red was also donned by “his top advisers, including White House chief of staff Susie Wiles.”

The Mirror said Barron’s tie was “eyebrow-raising,” “surprising” and “interesting.”

The Express pointed out the “unconventional” garment that “sparked conversation.”

“This choice surprised many viewers watching from home, who had anticipated that Barron would wear red to show solidarity with his father and the Republican Party,” according to the newspaper, which shared a few negative responses to his ensemble on X.

But if young Trump was committing a fashion faux pas, Vice President JD Vance was guilty of it, too. He wore a light blue tie.

It also wasn’t the first time the 19-year-old college sophomore has gone the iconoclastic route.

At one of his father’s inauguration events last year, he also opted for blue neckwear.
