“Late Night” host Seth Meyers on Monday broke down how President Donald Trump’s strategy for the escalating Iran war has leaned less on “precision and planning” and more on “crossing our fingers.”

Meyers reacted to a Truth Social post from Trump where he wrote that “hopefully” Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its police forces will “peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots” in order to bring the country back to “Greatness.”

Meyers quipped, “I don’t know what’s more troubling, the use of ‘hopefully’ or the use of ‘peacefully merge,’ like Iran is suddenly going to become a traffic circle in ‘Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.’”

Then the host noted that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), like Trump, also seems “indecisive” about the endgame in Iran.

Meyers pointed to a clip of Graham, who he described as one of the “war’s biggest cheerleaders,” telling NBC’s “Meet the Press” that it’s neither his nor Trump’s job to have a plan for a “new Iran.”

“The thing that strikes me as especially weird about this is how little effort Trump is putting into even trying to convince anyone, any of us, that this war no one asked for is a good idea,” Meyers argued.

Moments later, Meyers cited abysmal polling numbers on the deadly strikes on Iran as well as Trump’s “USA” cap-inclusive, middle-of-the-night announcement on the attack from his Mar-a-Lago estate.

“I’m sorry, but if you’re going to announce an illegal war that violates the Constitution from your private club at 3 a.m., can you at least take your hat off first?” Meyers joked. “You look like an Italian tourist in Times Square.”
