MS NOW host Rachel Maddow on Monday broke down President Donald Trump’s apparent penchant for buying stocks and then somehow boosting their value. (Watch the video below.)

Noting that Joe Biden and Barack Obama didn’t trade stocks as president, Maddow unfurled a litany of recent Trump market actions and declared, “This just appears to be fantastically, kaleidoscopically corrupt.”

Maddow introduced the segment by noting, “With each passing hour, we’re getting more and more reporting coming out about how his stock-buying as president tracks with things he’s doing as president to boost the value of those stocks. I mean, it’s just incredible.”

The host listed several examples. Trump bought stock in Nvidia; a short time later his Department of Commerce approved the sale of Nvidia chips to China. Trump bought stock in Dell; Trump told people to buy Dell computers in a speech. Trump bought Apple Stock; he publicly praised Apple as a “great company.”

Trump “appears to have added to his already record-setting level of enriching himself,” HuffPost reporter S.V. Date wrote.

“Leveraging the presidency for profit,” the president’s worth has ballooned by more than $1 billion over the past year, Forbes reported in late March.
