Amazon MGM Studios has reportedly paid a whopping $40 million to license the Brett Ratner–directed documentary, which will stream on Amazon Prime after its theatrical run. Melania Trump is reportedly an executive producer on the project. The exact involvement of Muse Films in the documentary is not yet apparent.

The hefty fee to license the documentary has sparked controversy, with critics calling it the latest example of Amazon and its founder, Jeff Bezos, cozying up to the Trump administration.

Ratner’s involvement has also raised eyebrows. The director faced sexual misconduct allegations during the #MeToo movement that he has denied.

According to promotional material, the film will focus on “the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration” and follow FLOTUS as she “orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family.”
