Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayVeteran journalist Katie Couric torched her one-time network, CBS News, for caving to political pressure from President Donald Trump.
In a new interview with Variety, Couric discussed how the media landscape had evolved in the nearly 20 years since she first sat behind the desk of “CBS Evening News,” and noted that the dance to appear unbiased to audiences was a total sham.
Offering an example, she pointed to how CBS had aired a news report that described the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol from both “the Trump view” and the perspective of Democrats.
“I think for a lot of viewers, they see that as a cop out,” Couric said. “Similarly, yes, some people think the election was rigged, and yet, are newscasts supposed to say these people believe the election was rigged despite absolutely zero evidence supporting that? I think where we have entered a new era of not only facts, but context and perspective, and to repeat things that aren’t true, hoping this to appear unbiased is not the solution.”

Couric also said that attempts to reach centrist audiences by offering “both sides” reporting would not work.
“There is a significant segment of the population who believe that the Trump administration poses an existential threat to democracy, and for those people, to have a ‘both sides’ newscast is a violation of journalistic ethics,” she said.
Couric, who now runs the successful independent media company Katie Couric Media, also scoffed at CBS for yielding to Trump’s lawsuit, which accused the network of deceptively editing a Kamala Harris interview that aired on “60 Minutes,” and paying him $16 million.
“That was obviously because they wanted the [Paramount/Skydance] merger to go through, and it was so obvious,” she said. “That, to me, is a real issue in media today, and I found that really deplorable. That level of capitulation was just incredibly disappointing to me.”
