Jimmy Fallon made sport of the turnover at “60 Minutes” on Thursday by introducing its new correspondents ― or at least the ones on his comedic wish list. (Watch the video below.)

“Well, the big story this week is that CBS fired Scott Pelley after he clashed with his new boss at ‘60 Minutes,’” the “Tonight Show” host said. “Yeah, it really seems like CBS is trying to appeal to Trump. I mean, check out the new ‘60 Minutes’ correspondents.”

The bit continues with the news show’s iconic ticking stopwatch and some remaining regulars introducing themselves. “I’m Lesley Stahl. I’m Bill Whitaker. I’m Nicki Minaj.”

Wait, what? It gets weirder.

Grimace and Vladimir Putin as new correspondents sounds funny, but real life might have trumped that.

CBS on Thursday actually had to shoot down a report that it was considering podcaster Joe Rogan for “60 Minutes.”

Pelley was shown the door this week after he criticized new “60 Minutes” executive producer Nick Bilton and CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, who’s apparently been tasked with turning the news division toward the right.

Correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega were also let go recently following Anderson Cooper’s departure earlier in May. Present and current staffers on “60 Minutes” have cautioned higher-ups against restricting the show’s journalistic independence.
