Wind turbines are not only blighting Germany’s landscape everywhere, but are also creating excessive noise
Germany’s online Blackout News reports that two Nordex wind turbines are exceeding the permitted nighttime noise limits at the Königseiche wind farm near Uhingen-Baiereck, (south Germany).

This has been confirmed by an official DEKRA technical expert report published by the city of Uhingen on June 16, 2026. DEKRA is one of the world’s leading expert organizations in testing, inspection, and certification.
The maximum allowable nighttime noise level for the affected residential areas is 40 dB(A); DEKRA measured baseline levels between 41 and 42 dB(A).
The report identified noticeable tonal noises (such as rhythmic swooshing or humming). Since the operating permit strictly prohibits such distinct tones, mandatory legal penalties of 4 to 5 dB(A) must be added. This pushes the evaluated noise level up to 45 dB(A)—and according to a local citizens’ initiative, even up to 50 dB(A) in extreme conditions.
Residents have been complaining since the wind farm went into operation in December 2024. Replacing the gearboxes in August 2025 failed to resolve the issue.
Because the actual measurements significantly exceed the original theoretical noise forecasts (which estimated around 38.4 dB(A)), the operators are now facing regulatory action. This could include curtailing output, nightly shutdowns, or temporary decommissioning, the latter of which is already being strongly demanded by the local citizens’ initiative “Pro Schurwald”.
