Western political philosophy developed the idea of equality. That all men, and eventually women and children, have equal rights under the state. This is an important milestone, moving away from the idea that our circumstances (birth, power, etc.) determine our value.
A higher form of equality is spiritual equality, where we recognize we are all one in consciousness, and in the Divine. We are various expressions of the one whole.
The advantage of this higher form is that it recognizes fundamental equality, along with a full expression of our distinctions, of our gifts and dharma. When we know ourselves to be supported and heal our resistance to who and how we are, our expression can be rich and full.
As we clear our resistance to our natural expression, our distinctions increase. Not on the level of appearance, but in what we offer the world. Our gifts flourish and contribute to the whole. We celebrate our differences as combining our unique gifts will lift us all.
I’ve spoken prior to a common recognition in the Brahman stage, when we become a law unto ourselves. This is related, but on the level of consciousness. What I’m describing above is the full embodiment of our expression.
This is an aspect of the golden age, where our natural potential is fully supported. And this is what we’re moving towards, although it promises to take a few years.
