Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayPresident Donald Trump’s name has been emblazoned on the side of the building that houses the U.S. Institute of Peace, sparking mockery, and criticism that it’s a dictator-like thing to do, on social media.
The State Department confirmed the move on Wednesday.
“This morning, the State Department renamed the former Institute of Peace to reflect the greatest dealmaker in our nation’s history,” it wrote on X, formerly Twitter, alongside an image of the change.
“Welcome to the Donald J. Trump Institute Of Peace,” it added, before appearing to channel current U.S. ambassador to Greece (and former Fox News personality and ex-flame of Donald Trump Jr.) Kimberly Guilfoyle’s viral 2020 Republican National Convention rallying cry of: “The best is yet to come.”

The Trump administration essentially gutted the independent agency earlier this year as part of the tech billionaire Elon Musk’s nonofficial Department of Government Efficiency’s war on what they believed to be wasteful public spending.
Following the addition of Trump’s name, CNN quoted one former agency official as saying: “It’s pretty ironic that he put his name on an institution he destroyed.”
Commenters online also responded mockingly, with many noting how Trump earlier this year failed to win the Nobel Peace Prize, despite much campaigning from his supporters.
Hope the letters come off the building easily for when they get taken down in 3 years. What utter absurdity.

— 🇨🇦 dronefishing 🇨🇦 (@dronefishing1) December 4, 2025Soon, the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace will launch the ‘Very Fine People’ Conflict Resolution Seminar, teaching mediators how to find “good people on both sides”… even when the sides include neo-Nazis. 😇
— Sisay (Amoraw) (@amorawwub) December 4, 2025I guess the Donald J. Trump Institute of Warmonger Appeasement and Drug War Militarization doesn't have the same ring to it.
— Brian Garst (@BrianGarst) December 4, 2025didn't get the Nobel so he's doing this dictator shit instead I see
— stef 🫴 (@stefaesthesia) December 4, 2025We are now officially North Korea. Do we have to bow down or salute when we pass Dear Leader's building?
— Som Records (@SomRecordsDC) December 4, 2025Legally, it’s still the Institute of Peace; slapping a gaudy Trump label above its actual name doesn’t change that fact. Signed, the Department of Defense and the Gulf of Mexico.
— Dr. Maria Bauducci (@HeuristicHeart) December 4, 2025So how long before we become "The Donald States of Trump"?
— Jenn // APOBANGPOᴼᵀ⁷ 💜 🌻 💜 (@iamjlniles) December 4, 2025Naming it the “Institute of Peace” while anticipating a War with Venezuela is a new level insanity
