He’s visiting to attend the G7 summit in Evian, France, but people were stunned by what seemed to occur when he was spotted with Brigitte Macron. Video footage has surfaced of him engaging in a “weird handshake tug of war” with her, though people have also highlighted another moment that’s been considered bizarre.

Upon his arrival, the US President was seen gripping her hand for an extended period, sparking widespread speculation. Aaron Rupar wrote: “Trump does his weird handshake tug of war with Brigitte Macron.”

This accompanied footage of Trump appearing to maintain a firm grasp of her hand, with the grip persisting as they carried on their conversation.

It sparked considerable discussion as many deemed the behaviour completely unwarranted, with some branding it “creepy”. One said: “Disgusting. Inappropriate gestures and mannerisms, too.”

Another wrote: “He grabbed and shook Emmanuel’s hand quickly, but kept hers in a grip while she’s clearly uncomfortable. Then she does this quick shake movement right after he lets go that’s like she’s shaking off the disgust.”

A third replied: “Why won’t he let go of her hand when she wants to disengage?” Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “She looked very ready to let go about five seconds in.
