A man who absconded from prison while serving a 23-year sentence for attempted murder has been taken back into custody, police have said.

Kieran Cameron, 43, was reported missing from HMP Thorn Cross, an open prison in Warrington, Cheshire, at 9.20pm on Tuesday.

Cameron was handed his prison sentence for an attempted murder in Dorset in 2016.
